Vesperae Solennes de Dominica
[The texts of movement I (Dixit Dominus) and VI (Magnificat) are also used for the Dixit et Magnificat that ends the first half of the program.
A textual note: Mozart's settings of Biblical Latin use the Vulgate translation of St. Jerome (c. 345-420), who produced two surviving versions of the Psalms. For his Psalm settings Mozart chose the version based on the Greek Septuagint translation of the Old Testament, rather than the one translated directly from the Hebrew original, the source of all familiar English translations. Thus the wording of some verses may seem unusual to us. The Doxology ("Gloria Patri . . . Amen") that ends each movement is not Biblical. -- GEH]

Psalm 111
I will confess the Lord with my whole heart,
