Dedication

Many of us have been touched in one way or another by the ravages of the epidemic of HIV and AIDS. I have lost several good friends and colleagues to this affliction, as perhaps have many of you.

For this and many other reasons, The Spectrum Singers and I have decided that this concert shall be a benefit for The Hospice of Cambridge.

The works on tonight's concert were deliberately selected for their consoling, uplifting content and hopeful message, and are meant to serve as an oasis of comfort for members of the artistic community, their friends, and supporters.

The decision to present this concert was born out of The Spectrum Singers' collective desire to give back to the community. Many of our members have experienced the trauma of losing friends in the arts community to AIDS. We are also concerned that many musicians lack adequate health insurance, and unlike other cultural centers, there is no fund in Boston that specifically assists musicians living with this disease. We want to help address that need.

John W. Ehrlich, Music Director

We welcome the audience members who are here tonight through the auspices of The Hospice of Cambridge. We hope you enjoy this concert. Four years ago, The Spectrum Singers acknowledged the unmet needs of musicians with HIV and AIDS and began its collaboration with The Hospice to help musicians in their care. We are pleased to offer this concert as a tribute to you who support The Hospice of Cambridge.
