Guest Artists
Boston-based soprano and flutist Mara Riley, whose “light soprano sparkles beautifully” (Boston Musical Intelligencer), is recognized for her compelling musicality, having a particular affinity for early music, chamber music, and ensemble work. She plays both modern and Baroque flute.
The 2026-2027 season brings performances with the Boston Early Music Festival, the Henry Purcell Society of Boston, Sarasa Ensemble, North Star Baroque, Emmanuel Music, Cappella Clausura, Aeternum, Philharmonie Austin, Nightingale Vocal Ensemble, and others. She was a 2024/2025 Voces8 US Scholar and the winner of the 2023 Colorado Bach Ensemble’s young artist competition. As a baroque flutist, she has performed with Blue Hill Bach, Boston Early Music Festival, and the Handel + Haydn Society.
She holds a double masters (MM '24) in Flute and Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory. Website can be found at marariley.com.
Mezzo-soprano Krista River has appeared as a soloist with the Boston Symphony, the Santa Fe Symphony, Handel & Haydn Society, the Florida Orchestra, the Charlotte Symphony, the North Carolina Symphony, and the St Paul Chamber Orchestra. Praised by the New York Times for her “shimmering voice…with the virtuosity of a violinist and the expressivity of an actress,” Krista is a winner of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition and is a Sullivan Foundation grant recipient. She is featured on numerous recordings under Naxos, Dorian and Navona record labels, including the role of Mrs. Fox in Boston Modern Orchestra Project’s recording of Fantastic Mr. Fox, for which she won a Grammy award. She is on the voice faculty at Brandeis University and Phillips Academy in Andover. Krista resides in Boston and is a regular soloist with Emmanuel Music’s Bach Cantata Series.
Corey Dalton Hart, tenor, is an active performer of opera, oratorio, and song repertoire as well as an eager chamber musician. He has been a featured soloist with the American Symphony Orchestra, the Albany Symphony, the Asheville Symphony, the Bard Baroque Ensemble, and The Orchestra Now. As a chamber artist, Corey has collaborated with Blue Heron, Skylark, Ensemble Altera, Calliope’s Call, Zenith Ensemble, the Handel and Haydn Society, Emmanuel Music, Boston Baroque, the Boston Camerata, Seven Times Salt, Boston Baroque, Renaissance Men, The Ashmont Bach Project, and Upper Valley Baroque. He was also named an American Scholar of VOCES8, one of the world’s most versatile vocal ensembles. Corey holds degrees from Furman University and Bard College as well as a DMA in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from NEC. He is currently a member of both the NEC College and Prep School faculties as well as the Longy School of Music.
Bass vocalist Daniel Fridley resides in the Boston area and uses his “spotless, resonant bass” (Cleveland Classical) as a virtuosic vehicle suited to a wide range of musical styles.
This season, Fridley began with performances of Monteverdi’s Vespro della beata Virgine with Incantare (August). Fridley will also sing Vulcan with the Henry Purcell Society of Boston, as well as join The Spectrum Singers for Rameau solos. In December, he joins Upper Valley Baroque for a performance as soloist and chamber musician. He joins Emmanuel Music for Bach’s St. Matthew Passion in March, and will travel to Chicago to join the Newberry Consort in an exciting polychoral concert in May.
As a teacher, Fridley teaches students of all ages and aspirations. He continues to serve as a professor of voice at both Middlesex Community College and Endicott College. He is developing a private voice studio out of his home in Watertown, MA.
